Microsoft Bids For Yahoo! Written on February 7, 2008, .
Last Friday Microsoft bids USD$44.5 billion for Yahoo! And with the announcement, many Yahoo! users started to show that they don’t love the merging and started to uploading some protest pictures on Flickr. Even though Yahoo! still don’t give their answer for the bid, there are already some rumors that saying Yahoo! may outsource the search monetization to Google as a way of keeping Microsoft at bay. However in terms of service, the service offered Yahoo! are also offered by Microsoft, but users are more likely to use the service from Yahoo! and services provided by Yahoo! seems more user friendly than Microsofts’. I have tabulated the services that are provided by Yahoo! and Microsoft:

If we look at the 2007 profit, Yahoo! had made $660 million while Microsoft had made a total of $14.1 billion of profit, but they made -$732 million from MSN. It seems that they didn’t make any money from their online services, and their hold on online community also are very low. Maybe this year Microsoft have to look into social networking more if they failed to merge with Yahoo!.
